Butler Murder Victim Described as Kind By Karate Instructor

The instructor of a Kinnelon-based karate school described Carl Mirasola, a 43-year-old man who was shot dead in his Butler home in 2010, as a kind and considerate man when he took the stand in the murder trial of Mirasola's wife, Amalia Mirasola.

Amalia Mirasola, 47, is accused of shooting her husband, Carl Mirasola, six times inside their Roosevelt Avenue home on May 22, 2010. Attorneys presented closing arguments in her trial Tuesday, according to nj.com.

Traditional Okinawan Karate of Kinnelon instructor Christopher Miller testified Monday that he had taught Carl Mirasola and the couple's kids karate, according to nj.com, and that Carl Mirasola tried not to hurt his opponents, particularly women, when he faced them. But Amalia Mirasola painted another picture of her husband before jurors last week when she said Carl Mirasola threatened to kill her and that she had shot her husband in self-defense.

On Tuesday, Assistant Prosecutor Matthew Troiano said the shooting was premeditated and not a spontaneous action, nj.com reported. The trial is expected to resume on Wednesday.
