Park Place Lights Herald Santa's Arrival

Butler tree lighting and a chance to see Santa Claus cause many to brave the cold.

A large crowd braved the chilly temperatures Friday evening for the annual tree lighting ceremony at Park Place in Butler.

Those in attendance, numbering in the hundreds, were the first to see the Christmas lights in the park. Just after the lights came on, Santa Claus arrived aboard one of four fire trucks decorated with lights. Bringing up the rear of the procession was a 10-foot high Grinch riding on the back of one of the fire trucks.

After the ride by, Santa and his helpers went to the firehouse for hot chocolate, donuts, and gave visitors a chance to visit with him and Mrs. Clause.
