Celebrate DPW Employees and Other Things You Need to Know

Five things you need to know today.

Since the week is not yet over, there is still time to thank your Department of Public Works employees for all the things they do as this week is National Public Works Week.

In case you're unsure of what the department does for you, we asked . In addition to cleaning the snow from borough streets and picking up recycling, public works employees do much more.

  1. You Need to Know How to Thank Your Public Works Employees: You can do something simple, like leaving a note by your recyclables, or swing by your local DPW garage with a gift basket.
  2. You Need to Know Career Day is Coming Up Next Week: The will be having Career Day on Wednesday. Students will get to interact with many local businesspeople and learn about many companies-including Kinnelon-Butler Patch!
  3. You Need to Know About Soccer Registration: It's coming up for the B&B United girls traveling soccer team on June 8, 10, 15 and 17 from 6:15 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Walter T. Bergen School. You can register online here.
  4. You Need to Know About Ryan's Story: John Halligan, a well-known speaker who has appeared on television with Oprah Winfrey and Diane Sawyer, will be speaking at the Wednesday night about his son who committed suicide after being bullied in school. Halligan will speak about the lessons his family learned in dealing with bullying and cyber-bullying. The program is sponsored by KAMELOT, Kinnelon's municipal drug alliance, and will begin at 7:30 p.m.
