Five Ways to Give Back to Your Community

Several ways to volunteer or donate in the tri-boro.

This week, we will be giving back to the community as part of a Patch-wide community service effort,. We wanted to inspire you to give back in the community, so here are five ways:

  1. You Could Donate Food to Local Animal Shelters: Dogs and cats in the shelters need food too. Contact the and Kinnelon animal shelters to inquire about their needs.
  2. You Could Volunteer With Willing Hands: Willing Hands, located inside St. David's Church, in Kinnelon, works with developmentally disabled adults to complete work activities. They are always looking for volunteers to help and you can contact them here.
  3. You Could Donate Used Clothes: To you, they may be trash, but to someone else, they may be treasure. You can drop off your used clothes outside the rectory at church or in one of the bins in the back of
  4. You Could Donate Food: Food collection boxes are always sitting outside in Kinnelon. Pick up two of an item you would normally buy each time you go and you will help feed many families.
  5. You Could Help a Neighbor: It doesn't have to be a grand gesture, but consider asking a neighbor if you could help them carry in groceries or mow their lawn. A little offer can go a long way.
