UPDATE: All Tri-Boro School Districts Closed Monday

As cleanup begins in aftermath of record snowstorm, outages remain.

Kinnelon, Butler and Bloomingdale public schools will all be closed Monday due to the mass power outages in the area. , in Butler, will also be closed Monday.

Walter T. Bergen School Principal Frank Verducci said the borough has at the school and since many students have been without power for hours, the schools will be closed.

Butler public schools will also be closed Monday according to Butler Police Lt. Mike Moeller. Kinnelon Public Schools sent out a Nixle alert at 6:52 p.m. informing parents of the closure.

The historic fall nor'easter that left the region ravaged with down trees and power lines and millons without power throughout the Northeast pulled through the area late Saturday night.

At 12:45 p.m. Sunday, Kinnelon Police said "extensive" power outages were being reported in the borough, particularly in Smoke Rise, and that residents should expect to be without power for an extended amount of time.

Kinnelon Mayor Bob Collins said Butler Electric has been working hard to restore power.

"We don't have an update on power as of now. There's been extensive line damage," he said.

Bloomingdale Mayor Jon Dunleavy said the borough is asking residents to be patient.

"With well over 100 down trees and power lines, it made snow clearing from the roads unsafe and very difficult for DPW. We ask residents to stay off the roads so DPW, the County and Butler Electric can continue with tree removal and make all necessary repairs," he said Sunday.

Bloomingdale Department of Public Works (DPW) Foreman Fred Cook said several roads remained closed Sunday afternoon while the borough waited for electric crews to restore power lines. These roads include Walnut Street, Chestnut Street and Cedar Street.

Cook also said the department's employees worked tirelessly from noon Saturday until about 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

In Bloomingdale, a warming shelter has been set up at the , 225 Glenwild Avenue, but police are asking residents to contact them before going there at 973-838-0158.

More than 1 foot of snow fell in some Northern New Jersey communities and thousands of JCP&L and PSE&G customers in the state remain without power and might be .

Butler Electric customers have also reported .

While some residents reported on Facebook that power has been restored on Pine Hill Road in Kinnelon and Rafkind Road in Bloomingdale, others say they remain in the dark.

"No power on Tower Hill since 11 p.m. So glad I have a fireplace," wrote Kinnelon resident Angela Lisa Cirulli-Marroccoli Sunday.

Linda Kedl-O'Neill said power has been on and off.

"Had power on yesterday (only lost it for an hour or so). Woke up this morning to no power in Kinnelon," she said.

Several residents have expressed on Facebook that they have had a hard time getting a hold of the tri-boro's electric company. To report outages, call 973-838-0063.

Gov. Chris Christie , but there was no immediate travel ban, state police said.

NJ Transit has suspended service on the Morris and Essex lines due to down trees and overhead wires. Northern New Jersey buses are subject to detours due to local road conditions, the NJTransit website said early Sunday morning. NJTransit will cross-honor tickets throughout Sunday.

The Kinnelon High School girls soccer game against Randolph for the Morris County Tournament championship was postponed for the second straight day Sunday. A makeup date was not immediately known.
