Kinnelon Schools Seek to Fill 4 Open District Positions

Other positions are available at certain schools within the district.

Kinnelon Public Schools have three district-wide positions open, with other positions at Kinnelon High School and Pearl R. Miller School.

One open position is the director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment, a full-time administrative position. According to the school district website, the ideal candidate for the role will have the following qualities:

  • "experience with curriculum assessment, development and implementation;
  • demonstrated success in utilizing current best practices to improve student achievement, planning and implementation of professional development;
  • an understanding of the Common Core and the changing landscape of NJ assessments;
  • and [an understanding of] the NJ teacher evaluation system."

The position requires personnel management and coordination of district tests and state reporting. Grant writing may also be required.

The ideal candidate, according to the website, will have five years of experience teaching in a classroom and other administrative and supervisor experience. Certification as a principal or school administrator is required. The deadline to apply for the role is May 3.

A part-time position at 28 hours per week for a district computer technician is also open for 12 months only. The ideal candidate must have experience supporting Microsoft Windows XP, Windows 7 and Microsoft Office, along with SmartTech SmartBoards and Notebook software. Knowledge of Hewlett Packard printers and various audio/visual equipment is also required, and experience in an academic environment is also preferred. Technical certifications are preferred.

A fulltime replacement physical therapist is also needed from Sept. 1 through Dec. 23. The ideal candidate must hold approprate school certifications.

The district also anticipates an opening for a full-time teacher of students with multiple disabilities. The Kinnelon Public Schools website lists the following qualities as needed for the position:

  • Experience with population required. 
  • Philosophy that supports inclusion essential.  
  • Knowledge of use of augmentative communication devices and assistive technologies. 
  • Application of physical, occupational and speech therapy interventions.  
  • Knowledge of posturing devices. 

A transportation coordinator position is also anticipated effective July 1. The hours will be from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. A CDL is required, and routing experience is preferred.

The district is continuously hiring substitute school nurses with appropriate certification. According to the district website, applicants with at least 60 college credits and a Registered Nurse (RN) license will be processed. The position may require staffing the nurse's office in any of the district's four schools, or accompanying students on field trips.

The district also seeks to hire a bus aide immediately to provide supervision for a high school student with autism, who needs someone to travel with him to and from his school placement. Experience with high school-age students with autism is essential, as is 60 college credits or a passing score on the paraprofessional Praxis. The hours are 7:20 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and 1:20 p.m. to 4 p.m., five days per week.

Kinnelon High School needs a new head boys basketball coach. Anyone interested in the position should send a letter of intent and a resume to Athletic Director Scott Rosenberg.

A replacement science teacher and a replacement Spanish/French teacher are also needed at Pearl R. Miller School. The science teacher position begins on or about May 24 and lasts through June 30; the Spanish/French teacher has an immediate start. A letter of intent, resume and certification should be sent to Principal John Hynes.
