Murder Trial Continues as Butler Detective Testifies

Butler police Det. Collen Pascale took the stand in the shooting murder trial of Amalia Mirasola this week, telling jurors Mirasola said her husband threatened that she would never see her kids again before she allegedly shot him to death, according to the Daily Record.

Mirasola, 47, is accused of shooting her husband, Carl Mirasola, six times inside their Roosevelt Avenue home on May 22, 2010. Carl Mirasola was 43 when he died.

Amalia Mirasola's trial began this week with her attorney, Kalman Geist, claiming his client shot her husband in self-defense during opening statements. Geist has said that Carl Mirasola was taking disability checks (Amalia Mirasola suffers from multiple sclerosis) from his wife and seeing a mistress.

Two of the couple's daughters were home at the time of the shooting and one is expected to possibly take the witness stand later in the trial. Amalia Mirasola's sister gave testimony during pre-trial proceedings and could also be a witness.

The Daily Record reported that Pascale was asked to approach Mirasola in court Wednesday and look at her physical condition, describing whether she appeared to be in the same condition as at the time of the shooting. Pascale said she appeared different.
