Question of the Day: What Does Independence Day Mean to You?

Everyone has opinions. Patch is the place to share them.

Independence Day is right around the corner and while to some, the holiday means a day off from work to lay by the pool, eat hamburgers and watch fireworks, to others, the day has a much deeper meaning.

As Kinnelon-Butler Patch reader Stacie Ess commented on our Facebook page, "To me, Independence Day is a day to celebrate our freedoms-although freedom really isn't free. It's a day to honor those who fought for and continue to fight for our rights and liberties as Americans (something that should be done everyday when we see a veteran). It's a day to honor those who paid for our freedoms with their lives. I appreciate all those, especially my family members, who served our country. So, although it's a great day for a yard party and celebrating a day off with your family, remember those who sacrifice for all of us."

We want to know what you think.
