River Cleanup and More Upcoming Tri-boro Events

Five things you need to know this Friday.

This week's 5 Things explores a few tri-boro events coming up in the near future and the further future.

To kick things off, the annual Pequannock River cleanup at Sloan Park will be held this weekend. If you want to spend a portion of your weekend helping to beautify the area, head over to the park, on Main Street in Bloomingdale, at 10 a.m.

Here are all five things you need to know today:

  1. You Need to Know About the River Cleanup: The cleanup will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Gloves, bags and refreshments will be provided.
  2. You Need to Know That a Book Sale is Coming: The Friends of the will be holding their annual book sale next Friday through Monday beginning at 9 a.m. Friday at the Kiel Avenue firehouse.
  3. You Need to Know the Arts & Crafts Festival is Also Coming: In addition to the book sale, the Friends of the Kinnelon Public Library will also be holding their annual Arts & Crafts Festival on Sept. 10, rain or shine, in the parking lot.
  4. You Need to Know Butler's Townwide Garage Sale is Coming: The Borough of Butler will be having a townwide garage sale on Sept. 10, with Sept. 11 as the rain date.
  5. You Need to Know the Candlelight Walk Will Be Held Rain or Shine: As long as the rain does not create a safety hazard, the Butler Council has agreed the candlelight walk will be held once again this year, with the walk beginning at Butler Park at 7 p.m. on Sept. 11 and participants walking to Sloan Park in Bloomingdale in honor of those who lost their lives on 9/11. Glow sticks will be provided and all are encouraged to participate
