Kinnelon School Budget Passes

Kinnelon voters approved $32.5 million budget.

Kinnelon voters approved the school district's $35.2 million budget Wednesday with 1,051 votes in favor of the budget and 794 votes against it. 

In addition to the budget being passed, the will have three new members, as , and Denise Hatch were elected to the board.

Election workers in Kinnelon said they saw a steady stream of voters Wednesday from when . By 3:30 p.m., 269 voters had voted in the Municipal Building polling location alone.

"I have two children and education is very important," she said.

Kris Escue, a teacher's assistant at , said she came out to vote in favor of the budget because she wanted to support Kinnelon's education system.

Corinne Dekeukeiaere, a Bloomingdale teacher and Kinnelon resident, talked about her vote.

"I voted for the schools. I'm a teacher and it's important for the schools not to lose any money," she said. Dekeukeiaere added that it is important to maintain the educational quality of the district.
