Tri-Boro Shelters Open, Water Being Distributed

Several shelters are still available throughout the tri-boro for those in need.

Bloomingdale's overnight shelter will open at 4 p.m. at the Bloomingdale Firemen's Hall and offer a warm place to sleep for those in need. Anyone wishing to stay should contact the Bloomingdale Police Department at 973-838-0158.

The Borough of Butler also has sheltering available at Butler police headquarters.

Kinnelon was planning to close its shelter at the Kiel School but decided to reopen based on demand. According to the Kinnelon Office of Emergency Management, the shelter was kept open "due to cooler temperatures predicted at night."

"If you need to warm up, charge a phone/laptop, top off water, get a warm cup of coffee or soup, games for the kids to play or just want to get out of the house and talk, we are open and shall be until further notice," the Kinnelon OEM said on their Facebook page.

Additionally, the Fayson Lakes Water Company was giving away water 24 hours a day to those in need. Ice and water were also available at the Wanaque First Aid Squad on Melrose Place in Wanaque. Water and ice were available at the Bloomingdale Volunteer Fire Department on Union Avenue.
