Walker's Deli a Quick Stop for a Bite

While we wouldn't advise walking there, Walker's Deli seems to be somewhat of a hot spot amongst tri-boro residents for those looking for a sandwich, hot or cold, or morning bagel and cup of coffee.

Located on Hamburg Turnpike in Bloomingdale, the deli is on the way to many local highways including Route 23 and Route 287. Because of its convenience, we've chosen Walker's Deli as this week's Bites Nearby.

Each week, Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out. Here's this week's choice:

The deli is decorated to have an almost 1950's appeal with black and white checkered flooring and license plates from several states hanging on the walls. Of note is a license plate that actually says "Walker" hanging above the cash register.

As for the food, Walker's has just about everything from cold deli sandwiches to hot items off the grill. The deli serves premium Thumann's meat and also has a separate section where they offer Red's Rhode Island Chicken for anyone in the mood for a leg or wing. Some hot sandwiches include Chicken Parmesan, meatball sandwiches and grilled chicken. The deli also caters.

Run out of shampoo? Walker's has got it, as they have a small variety of toiletries and personal products on hand. The deli also has many kinds of potato chips and beverage.

If you do plan to stop by Walker's, make sure you bring cash as they do not accept credit cards. There is, however, an ATM machine available for a $2 charge inside the deli.
