Wayne Patch: Gov. Christie Warns Residents to Obey Evacuation Requests

Senator wants state of emergency declared.

Gov. Chris Christie visited Pequannock, Pompton Lakes and several other flooded areas Friday, evaluating the impacts of Thursday's rain storm and urging residents to pay attention to evacuation requests.

According to the story on Wayne Patch, the governor spoke at Passaic Community College and defended the decision of state officials to allow building on areas that were already prone to flooding.

Senator Frank Lautenberg also stopped in Wayne Friday to urge Gov. Christie to declare a state of emergency and to discuss the availability of FEMA money.
