Bloomingdale Students Donate $400 to Help Sandy Victims

One fifth grader gave $50. Money will be used to purchase candy canes and gift cards.

Bloomingdale students donated $400 to a non-profit that will help brighten young victims of Super storm Sandy in South Jersey.

Students from Walter T. Bergen School were encouraged to donate their own money to Santa’s Rooftop Response, a non-profit resident Cristina Earle founded last year. Quarters were collected in homerooms every morning. A fifth grader donated $50.

The money will be used to purchase 2,000 candy canes and gift cards for children. They will be given to children who visit with Santa Claus during a party and parade Dec. 21.
