Bloomingdale to Celebrate Pride Saturday

Bloomingdale residents will come together to share their town pride during the annual Bloomingdale Pride Day Saturday.

The event, which will be held from noon to 5 p.m. at Delazier Field, will bring back many of the popular games and activities from last year, plus a few more.

"We will have over 60 vendors, which include a lot of our local civic and youth groups and many local businesses," Mayor Jonathan Dunleavy said.

Music and entertainment will be provided by Supersonic DJ and karate demonstrations will be provided by leaders of a local dojo. There will also be a Zumba class attendees can participate in.

On the Move Performing Arts Center and the Bloomingdale Cornet Band will feature performances. Other activities will include a soccer contest sponsored by the Knights of Columbus and pumpkin painting sponsored by the Bloomingdale Recreation Commission.

As for refreshments, Butler High School will be offering lemonade from a stand and the Bloomingdale Butler Youth Club (BBYC) will run a snack stand as in years past. The Bloomingdale Parent Teacher Association and Blomingdale Free Public Library will team up to offer story time for younger attendees.

Dunleavy also said there will be five amusement rides, including an obstacle course rockclimbing wall and large super slide.

More than 60 vendors will have tables at the event, including local businesses, crafters, jewelers and more. Local artists will have their work on display.
