2 Trucks Hit Watchung Avenue Bridge

Police say the overpass was struck twice within a week.

Two drivers were issued summonses for careless driving after they hit the Watchung Avenue railroad overpass in separate incidents.

Patrolman Brian Colatrella investigated a truck that ran into the bridge along Watchung Avenue Friday at about 3:10 p.m., according to police.

Colatrella discovered a box truck, driven by Tolsieram Singh, 24, of Staten Island, N.Y., crashed into the bridge while traveling westbound from Summit, police said.

The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Officer Andrew Chase investigated a similar incident Wednesday morning. He found a box truck driven by Karman McNeil, 36, of Bronx, N.Y., struck the bridge shortly before 9:30 a.m., according to police.

McNeil stated he did not know the height of the truck he was driving, police said. He was not injured and he was issued a summons for careless driving.

Maybe instead of careless driving summons, a careless brdige design summons should be handed out to the responsible party. Let's face it, this type of story is not "news" anymore, re-designing the brige / road and improving it would be "news".

I am little confused as to the "terms of use" on this website. I posted a response to this article that contained two words....neither was profane, neither was offensive to anyone other than the geniuses who keep running into the overpass. I read inflammatory posts on this site all the time. How do the words "srly? again?" get flagged as offensive? Please enlighten me.
