46,000 Child Porn Images Could Get Man Up to 20 Years

Lake Hiawatha resident admits to distributing photos over the Internet, U.S. Attorney says.

A Lake Hiawatha man admitted to having more than 46,000 child pornography images and distributing them over the Internet, New Jersey U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman announced Wednesday.

The illegal photographs included scenes of child sexual abuse, many involving babies and sadomasochism, Fishman said.

Khalil Survey, 39, was indicted on one count of possession of child pornography and one count of distributing child pornography. He pleaded guilty to both counts before U.S. District Judge William H. Walls in Newark federal court. Survey was arraigned in October on the charges.

According to court documents, special agents of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations and other law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at Survey's home in August 2011.

After seizing the man's computer, an iPhone and several electronic storage devices, law enforcement officers found 46,353 images of child sexual abuse, including 983 images involving infants or toddlers and 783 images involving sadomasochistic abuse, Fishman said.

According to the state's attorney's office, Survey’s iPhone also contained photographs he had taken of himself downloading child pornography onto his home computer.

Fishman said Survey faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 5 years in prison and a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Sentencing is scheduled for April 9.
