56 Bags of Heroin Found in Car on Route 23

Police said men gave conflicting stories of where they were coming from.

Two men were arrested in Thursday after police said they found 56 bags of heroin and two hypodermic needles in their possession.

Jason M. Giles, 37, of Franklin, and Edwin J. Weber IV, 24, of Vernon, were both charged with possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia. Giles posted $10,000 bail and Weber was transported to the Morris County jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.

Police said the 1998 Volkswagen the men were driving was stopped on Route 23 around 10:54 a.m. because the passenger was allegedly not wearing a seatbelt. When police approached the vehicle, Ptl. Mark Ehrenburg allegedly noticed the men moving around inside the car.
