Alleged Burglar Left Footprints in Snow, Cops Say

Homeowner who reported window damaged also had items stolen from car this month.

Footprints were found in the snow near a Lincoln Road home where police said an alleged attempted burglary may have taken place Sunday.

Officers responded to the home around midnight after the homeowner said they were out for the night and came home to find a rear window damaged, Lt. John Schwartz said.

"Officers found fresh footprints in the snow and determined that the rear window was pried open," Schwartz said.

No items were taken from the home and Schwartz said it did not appear as though anyone had actually entered the house.

Schwartz said the owner of the home was one of 12 Kinnelon residents who reported their vehicles burglarized on Jan. 7. Several of the burglaries were located within the same area of the borough, with some reported on the other side of Kinnelon Road.
