Alleged Harrison Road Burglar Caught Through DNA Testing

Three out of four suspects apprehended, police said.

Eight months after , which included a state police helicopter, for four alleged burglars of a Harrison Road home, said they’ve arrested one of the actors they believe to be involved.

Michael Zambrano, 27, of Queens, was charged with burglary, attempted burglary and theft on March 30.

A manhunt ensued on August 23 after police responded to the home where a resident said she returned to find a suspicious vehicle in her driveway. Two of the four alleged burglars while police searched for more than four hours for the other two, unsuccessfully.

But police said Tuesday that through DNA testing, they were able to identify Zambrano as one of the alleged actors.

“We got a DNA from an item that was inside the car,” Kinnelon police Lt. John Schwartz said.

Police said a warrant for Zambrano’s arrest was signed on January 27, with bail set at $60,000, and that he was picked up March 30 by the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Fugitive Unit at the Corrigan Jail in Connecticut where he was serving an unrelated term.

Kinnelon police Det. Sgt. David Crouthamel served and processed Zambrano, who was transported to the Morris County jail where he still remains, unable to post bail, police said. Police also said a warrant has been issued for the remaining suspect.
