Alleged Shoplifters Caught at Pathmark

Police said 19-year-old allegedly attempted to leave store with merchandise.

Two 19-year-old women were transported to the after police said they were allegedly caught shoplifting from on Friday.

Ashley Aungst, of Riverdale, and Samantha Mercogliano, of Butler, were processed on Friday and released with tickets to appear in court at a later date.

said they responded to a report from Pathmark at 3:46 p.m. and upon arrival, Sgt. Christopher Burns met with Pathmark security who told him the women allegedly attempted to conceal merchandise on their persons and walk out of the store without paying.

Police said when speaking with the women, Aungst allegedly removed items from the sleeves of her coat and Mercogliano’s vehicle allegedly revealed two bottles of Tigi shampoo that was allegedly taken to the car before police arrived.

Police said Mercogliano allegedly stole $63.91 worth of merchandise and Aungst allegedly stole $63.36 worth  of merchandise.
