Alleged Tanning Salon Shoplifter Caught on Video

A 54-year-old West Milford woman was arrested Sunday at , in Kinnelon, after a salon employee claimed she stole her wallet, police said.

responded to the scene the next day and watched surveillance videos, which helped them identify Kimberly Phillips, of West Milford, police said. Phillips was charged with several counts of shoplifting and theft, police said, and was released after posting bail for $5,500.

Police said the video footage shows Phillips allegedly taking the employee’s wallet, as well as several bottles of tanning products from the store. The store owner also reviewed the surveillance footage and found that Phillips had allegedly shoplifted several items previously, police said.

Police arrested Phillips after the business owner called police when the woman was in the parking lot. Police also said there were several items of stolen merchandise in plain view in Phillips’ vehicle in the parking lot.

The storeowner said Phillips is a frequent customer of the salon.
