Basking Ridge FD Helps Knock Down 'Severe' Warren House Fire

Homeowners were evacuated at the start of the blaze, officials said

Basking Ridge firefighters helped respond to a “serious” fire that broke out in a home on Dead River Road in Warren Saturday morning, Warren Chief Mike Losapio said .

“It was a long fire, it was bad,” Losapio said of the blaze, which caused “pretty severe damage,” to the home. “The homeowners were evacuated and there were no injuries as a result of the fire,” he said.

In addition to the BR crews, all four Warren fire companies, as well as back up units from Liberty Corner, Bernards Township, Martinsville and Millington responded to the fire, which Losapio said broke out at about 8:14 a.m. Saturday. Crews were still on scene at 11:36 a.m. “The fire is out, but crews are still in the house investigating what happened,” he said.

Losapio said given the hot weather and severity of the fire, “we knocked it down pretty quickly.”

Red Cross was on scene Saturday, providing assistance to the family, Losapio said.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, and is under investigation, officials said.

Just to clarify, Bernards Township provided mutual aid to Warren early on during the fire via the Liberty Corner Fire Co. Later, the Basking Ridge Fire Co provided additional support. Nice work to all on a tough fire.
