Drunk Woman Bloody After Hitting Tree, Cops Say

Hamburg resident faces DWI and drug charges after allegedly driving 30 feet off Boonton Ave.

A Hamburg woman allegedly under the influence of alcohol was found bleeding and unable to answer questions after police said she crashed into a tree 30 feet off Boonton Avenue in Tuesday night.

Dorothy Hertz, 29, was charged with DWI, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, having an open container in a motor vehicle, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, careless driving and reckless driving.

An empty beer bottle and a partially empty bottle of vodka were found in her vehicle and a glass pipe with marijuana was found in her purse, police said.

said officers smelled alcohol on Hertz's breath when they arrived on the scene near Sunrise Terrace at about 11:05 p.m.

Police said Hertz was bleeding from the nose and mouth and was not able to answer questions. She was treated for her injuries and transported to the hospital by
