Bloomingdale Man Arrested on Warrant, Suspected Marijuana Pipe Found in Car

A man was arrested in Butler Thursday after police said he had a warrant for $49 out of the Wanaque Municipal Court and was found with what appeared to be a marijuana pipe and a small quantity of suspected marijuana in his car.

Michael Simpson, 37, was charged with possession of marijuana 50 grams or less, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, operating a motor vehicle with a controlled dangerous substance, unlicensed driving and driving with expired documentation.

said Simpson was getting into a white Nissan in the parking lot at 3:05 p.m. Ptl. Bryan Gordon was on routine patrol and had known about the warrant, police said. Police said Simpson got into the vehicle and began driving when he was stopped by police.

When police were speaking to Simpson, Ptl. Gordon and Sgt. Robert Findura allegedly observed a marijuana pipe in the center console. A search of the vehicle led police to find a small quantity of suspected marijuana.

Simpson was arrested and transported to the Butler police station. He posted bail and was later released  in his own recognizance with tickets to appear in court in Butler and Wanaque.
