Bloomingdale Police Help Lost Hikers

Pair was in Norvin Green State Forest.

The helped bring two hikers back to safety on Wednesday after a report they had become lost in Norvin Green State Forest.

A report to police at 3:42 p.m. said the pair parked on Glenwild Avenue and entered one of the trails before becoming lost.

Volunteer group Bloomingdale Search and Rescue was dispatched to the scene, and at 6:10 p.m. the hikers were safely escorted out of the forest.

  • An accident on Hamburg Turnpike near Glenwild Avenue on Tuesday caused two of the three vehicles involved to be towed.

    Wayne Warren, 46, of Bloomingdale, was charged with motor vehicle violations for failing to keep right and careless driving after his vehicle allegedly crossed double yellow lines and caused the accident.

    Warren’s vehicle was heading east on Hamburg Turnpike when it allegedly crossed the double yellow lines and struck a westbound vehicle, which then spun across the eastbound lane and off the road, striking a parked vehicle.

    Police responded to the accident at 1:30 p.m.

    Police said both drivers complained of pain and responded, but both drivers declined transportation to the hospital.
  • While investigating a motor vehicle operation complaint on Chestnut Street, Bloomingdale Police arrested a juvenile allegedly in possession of marijuana and alcohol on Monday.

    The juvenile was transported to headquarters for processing and then released to a parent, with a juvenile petition forthcoming.
  • On Wednesday at 9:39 p.m., police issued a summons to Moses Griffin, 23, of Newark, for allegedly operating his vehicle with a suspended driver’s license on Hamburg Turnpike.
