Bloomingdale Police Investigating Residential, Business Thefts

Copper pipes taken from unoccupied properties.

The is investigating two thefts of copper, one of a residence and one of a business, in the borough.

Police said they have responded to the two separate locations this month for reports of theft of copper pipes. According to police, both the locations are vacant and it appears as though the actor or actors entered the premises and cut the copper pipes from the baseboard heating system in multiple rooms.

Police said the number of copper thefts has increased lately and encouraged residents to contact the police department if they observe suspicious vehicles or people in what they believe to be unoccupied structures.
