Bridgewater Man Arrested on Drug Charges

A 20-year-old Bridgewater resident was charged with drug possession Wednesday after police said he was allegedly found to be in possession of marijuana, a smoking pipe and a grinder.

Gregory R. Lunginsland was charged with possession of Controlled Dangerous Substances (CDS)- marijuana 50 grams or less, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to maintain a single lane of travel, operating a motor vehicle with an obstructed view, operating a motor vehicle without a front license plate and operating a motor vehicle in possession of a CDS.

Police said Ptl. Jarred Schmiedhauser stopped the vehicle Lunginsland was driving on Route 23 North around 1:27 a.m. for failure to maintain a lane.

When police approached the vehicle, Schmiedhauser allegedly smelled a strong odor of burnt marijuana coming from the interior of the vehicle. Schmiedhauser asked Lunginsland for his credentials. Police said he told Schmiedhauser he was heading to Clinton Road, in West Milford.

While speaking with police, police said they noticed a small marijuana pipe in his possession and, after a thorough roadside investigation, also found him to be in possession of a quantity of marijuana, a digital scale, several packaging bags and a grinder commonly used to distribute drugs.

He was arrested and transported to the station where he was later released in his own recognizance with a date to appear in court.
