Butler, Kinnelon Police Graduate Junior Police Academy Recruits

Children from Kinnelon and Butler attended a five-week program hosted by their borough police departments.

The Butler and Kinnelon Police Departments graduated 22 new members of the Junior Police Academy during a special ceremony on Friday.

On Friday, July 19, dignitaries from Butler and Kinnelon, along with parents, grandparents and friends, gathered at the Kiel School in Kinnelon for the formal graduation ceremony.

The program was hosted by the Butler and Kinnelon Police Departments and included children from both towns.

“Throughout the week recruits of the academy participated in physical training, CPR familiarization techniques, a visit through the Morris County Correctional Facility and Morris County Public Safety Academy, DWI detection and enforcement procedures, informational seminars by both the Morris County Sheriff's Office canine and bomb squad units, and internet bullying training,” said Butler Captain Captain Ciro Chimento.

The program ran for five days between July 15 and July 19.

Lead instructors included Captain Ciro Chimento, Lieutenant Michael Moeller, Detective Colleen Pascale, Detective Sergeant David Crouthamel, Patrolman Sean Patilita, and Patrolman Matt Solari.
