Butler Man Slashed 'Good Friend' with Knife, Report Says

Victim tried to stop Alejandro Garcia, 27, from driving home after drinking at a party, police said.

A Butler man was charged with assault after he slashed his “good friend” across the stomach when the victim tried to stop him from driving home after drinking, police reported.

Alejandro Garcia, 27, of Butler, was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, NJ.com reported.

Garcia and his friend, 30, were leaving a house party in Union City at 2 a.m. Monday, Union City Police Chief Richard Molinari told the website.

Molinari could not be reached for comment.

The men were leaving the party when Garcia said he was going to go home and the man tried to stop him because he feared Garcia had too much to drink, police reports said.

The men argued and Garcia reportedly slashed his friend across the stomach with a folding knife, police said. Garcia was arrested at the scene.
