Butler Police: Man Arrested With More Than 100 Packages of Heroin

Police said driver of vehicle tried to avoid officer.

A 22-year-old West Milford man was arrested on Friday after said he was found to be in possession of 103 packages of suspected heroin and two hypodermic syringes in his vehicle on Route 23.

Sean Freese was charged with possession of controlled dangerous substances, distribution of controlled dangerous substances and unlawful possession of hypodermic syringes. In lieu of $25,000 bail, with no 10 percent option, he was sent to the Morris County Correctional Facility.

Police said at about 3 p.m., Ptl. Jarred Schmiedhauser saw a white Saturn with a broken windshield driving north on Route 23. As police approached the vehicle, the driver of the Saturn allegedly drove into a parking lot to avoid the officer.

Police managed to stop the vehicle, which had several occupants. After speaking with the occupants and allegedly receiving conflicting reports, a roadside investigation began and the suspected drugs were found.
