Butler Police: Man Found in Drug-Induced State, Allegedly in Possession of Crack and Heroin

charged a 19-year-old Butler man with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after police said he was allegedly found in a drug-induced state and with a small quantity of crack cocaine and empty packages of heroine in his room.

Police responded to Christian Pagella’s home Wednesday at about 7:35 p.m., after a resident of Lafayette Street reported an apparent drug overdose. Sgt. Keith Soules and Patrolmen George Beyloune and Jorge Reyes responded and gave Parella first aid, at which time they allegedly found the drugs.

Pagella was transported to Chilton Memorial Hospital for treatment. He was released in his own recognizance to the hospital and issued a ticket to appear in court at a later date.

Jonathan W. Kukulka Jr., 19, of Pompton Lakes, was arrested Thursday after police said he was allegedly observed drinking alcohol in his vehicle and driving recklessly.

He was charged with driving under the influence, consuming alcohol while operating a motor vehicle, reckless driving, failure to maintain a lane and failure to wear a seatbelt.

Police said they were on patrol on Main Street at 12:15 a.m. when Reyes saw the vehicle being driven by Kukulka make a left hand turn from Arch Street to the wrong lane. Reyes also said he saw Kukulka drinking from a plastic container when he made the turn.

Police said they detected alcohol on Kulkukla’s breath when the pulled the vehicle over and that he also had a juvenile passenger in the car who also smelled of alcohol. He was given several field sobriety tests, which police said he performed poorly, and arrested and transported to the police station. He was later released to a family member with a ticket to appear in court and the passenger was transported home and released to a family member with juvenile charges.
