UPDATE: Car Crashes Into Northwestern Ave. Home

Driver taken to Morristown Medical Center.

A gray Nissan crashed into a home on Northwestern Avenue on Thursday morning, with the driver being transported to Morristown Memorial Hospital. The residents of the home were not injured.

The driver of the car, 58-year old Steven Cimorelli, of Butler, was seen being taken into a vehicle via stretcher. The call came in around 8:10 a.m. and he was transported to Morristown Medical Center shortly before 9 a.m., a responder on the scene said.

Catherine Allison, 83, the owner of the home at 66 Northwestern Avenue, said she "heard a loud bang" when the car hit the home, but did not feel any vibrations. Allison said she has a hearing condition, but still heard the sound of the impact. She then looked out the window and saw the car.

"At first, of course, it startled me," she said. "I was mostly concerned about who was in the car, to make sure he was OK," she said.

Butler resident Jennifer Cook, who called police initially, said she saw the car come down Roosevelt Avenue when it hopped over a curb and coasted into the home.

She said she believed it was a medical condition by the way the car struck the home.

on the scene confirmed that the accident appeared to be caused by an unknown medical condition, but were unable to provide more details.

Cook was putting her children on the school bus at the time and said the accident happened just after the bus left.

Chilton Hospital Paramedics were also on scene.
