Chainsaw Theft Leads to Woman's Arrest in Butler, Cops Say

Highland Lakes woman was charged with shoplifting a chainsaw from Lowe's hardware store.

A Highland Lakes woman was arrested in Butler Monday after she stole a chainsaw from Lowe's on Route 23, Butler Police Capt. Ciro Chimento said.

Heather Sullivan, 37, of Highland Lakes, was charged with shoplifting. 

On Monday, Butler police were called to Lowe's around 9:46 p.m. to follow up on a report of shoplifting. After receiving a car description from an employee, police located the 2007 Toyota heading towards Route 23 North.

“Upon approach to the vehicle [officers] immediately noticed a Husqvarna chainsaw positioned in the rear seat that had been reported as stolen from Lowe's,” Chimento said.

The chainsaw was valued at $499. Sullivan was released pending a court appearance.
