Cops: Man Had Drugs, Distribution Items in Car

A Vernon man was caught with marijuana, drug paraphernalia and items used for distributing drugs after he was pulled over for a broken brake light on Route 23 Sunday morning, said.

Michael Radino III, 24, was charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating a motor vehicle in possession of a controlled dangerous substance, operating with a faulty brake light and failing to possess a valid driving credential.

Patrolman Jarred Schmiedhauser conducted the motor vehicle stop on Route 23 northbound at about 11:55 a.m.

The patrolman detected an odor of marijuana from inside the vehicle, police said. During a roadside investigation, Radino was found to be in possession of marijuana, a digital scale and several bags commonly used for drug distribution, police said.

Radino was placed under arrested and transported to police headquarters for processing before being released on his own recognizance, pending a Butler Municipal Court appearance.
