County K-9 Unit Investigates Macopin Road Handgun Complaint
Police said man said he had a "road rage" incident with another driver.
A West Milford driver was stopped on Hamburg Turnpike after police said they received a 9-1-1 call that a man matching his description was brandishing a hand gun in his vehicle. A search of the vehicle by the Passaic County Sheriff's Department K-9 Unit and found no weapons to be in the vehicle.
Bloomingdale Police Sgt. Ronald Frost responded to the scene where a caller, Brandon Reeve, 28, had complained that they had seen a man with a handgun in his vehicle on Macopin Road. Reeve provided a description of the man and his vehicle, and police said they were able to locate the vehicle on Hamburg Turnpike being driven by 55-year-old Joseph Silvestri of West Milford.
Police told Silvestri why he was being stopped and proceeded to search his vehicle. Silvestri told police he had a "road rage" incident with another driver on Macopin Road, police said, but denied having any weapons in his possession.

Silvestri was released after police were unable to locate a weapon. Reeve was notified that police had spoken to Silvestri.
