Crash Victim Still Listed in Serious Condition

23-year-old female was airlifted after Route 23 accident Tuesday.

The 23-year-old female from West Milford who was airlifted to St. Joseph's Hospital in Paterson Tuesday after South in is still listed in serious condition, according to Capt. Ciro Chimento.

The female driver, whose name has not yet been released, was traveling on Morse Avenue around 11 a.m. when police allege the driver of a Ford F-350 pickup truck, Robert McIntosh, ran through a red light and crashed into her 1997 Toyota Camry. Joel Geer, a bystander, said he saw the entire accident from the parking lot.

"She was hit while crossing the intersection off the Route 23 southbound jug-handle. She seemed to be conscious for about 10 seconds after the impact then passed out and did not seem to respond after that. For some reason, I believe the airbags deployed late, which I believe added to her being knocked out," said Geer.

Geer credited and for being on the scene quickly.

"The firecrew had to use the Jaws of Life to get her out of the car. Trafic seemed to try and get out of the way, but they slowed a bit," he said.

Police said traffic was limited to one lane for about three hours following the accident Tuesday while they conducted their investigation.
