Cops: Man Found With Pot After Fleeing Crash

Police said driver allegedly struck guardrail in Riverdale before being arrested in Bloomingdale.

A West Milford man was charged with possession of Controlled Dangerous Substances (CDS) and possession of drug paraphernalia on Sunday after said he was found to allegedly be in possession of a small amount of what was believed to be marijuana and items used to ingest it.

Christopher Bagarozza, 19, was stopped in the vehicle he was driving near the after Sgt. Ronald Frost responded to a report of a vehicle that allegedly struck a guardrail in Riverdale and then fled the scene. Upon further investigation, police said Bagarozza allegedly displayed signs of possible use of marijuana and they then found the drugs.

Police said Bagarozza was arrested and transported to the Bloomingdale police station. He was released to a family member with a date to appear in court.

  • Police responded to a two-car accident on Union Avenue, near Oak Street, on Saturday at 7:14 p.m. Police said both vehicles were traveling in opposite directions on Union Avenue when the vehicle traveling north had attempted to turn left on Oak Street and it allegedly struck the vehicle traveling south. Police said the airbags in the vehicle turning left onto Oak Street deployed and the driver, a 26-year-old female from , complained that she was experiencing pain. She was transported to Chilton Hospital by . One vehicle was towed from the scene and no summonses were issued, police said.
  • Eighteen-year-old Kolby Bocchichio, of West Milford, was charged with possession of CDS and possession of drug paraphernalia Monday after police said he was discovered to allegedly be in possession of marijuana and items used to ingest marijuana. Police responded to a call for a disabled vehicle on Reeve Avenue at 8:05 p.m. Police said they responded and discovered that Bocchichio, a passenger of the vehicle, was allegedly in possession of the drugs. Bocchichio was transported to the police station. He was later released to a friend with a date to appear in court.
  • Claude Martin, 43, of Hewitt, was charged with DWI Friday after police said they stopped the vehicle he was driving on Hamburg Turnpike for having an overdue inspection sticker. Police said when speaking to Martin, he allegedly showed signs of intoxication and was arrested. Martin was transported to the Bloomingdale police station where he was also charged with consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle and failure to make repairs. He was released to the custody of a family member with a date to appear in court and his vehicle was impounded.
