Drunken Driver Injures Woman, Flees Scene, Cops Say

Denville man was arrested after police said he crashed into the back of another car and fled with his car hood covering his windshield.

A Denville man was arrested on drunken driving charges after a hit-and-run accident which injured another driver on Route 23 South in Kinnelon, police said.

A 8:51 p.m. Monday, Brian T. Pisciotta, 24 of Denville was driving south on Route 23 in his 2001 Subaru when he ran into the back of a 2010 Dodge driven by Michelle Burns, 45, of West Milford, said Kinnelon Lt. John Schwartz.

Pisciotta then sideswiped the other car, forcing Burns into the guard rail before driving away with his hood up and covering his windshield, said Schwartz.

Burns was taken to Chilton Memorial Hospital for head and neck injuries while Pisciotta was placed under arrest and driven to Kinnelon Police Department headquarters.

He was charged with assault by auto, driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident with injuries, failure to report a motor vehicle accident, open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle and failure to have liability insurance.

He was released pending a court appearance.
