Franklin Man Allegedly Found With Marijuana Residue in Pipe

Police said man was originally stopped on Route 23 for having an overdue inspection.

A Franklin man was arrested in Friday after police said he was allegedly found to be in possession of a glass pipe with marijuana residue.

Joseph M. Mendez, 30, was charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police said Mendez was stopped on Route 23 South for having an overdue inspection sticker. When speaking with Mendez, police said smelled burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle.

Police said that when asked about the smell, Mendez handed over the pipe.

Mendez was arrested and transported to the police station and later released with a ticket to appear in court at a later date. He was also issued a summons for failure to have his vehicle inspected.
