Lt. John Schwartz said trees caused damage throughout the borough, including to borough homes, and several officers were forced to cut trees when not responding to calls.

"There's just a tremendous, tremendous amount of trees down," he said.

The down trees have also caused issues for residents who live on Kinnelon Road as a down tree is blocking the roadway, Schwartz said.

"It was an all-hands-on-deck weekend. The crew did a great job," Schwartz said.

Hundreds of residents in Kinnelon and Bloomingdale are still without power Monday although the number of Butler residents without power is down to about a dozen according to Butler police Capt. Ciro Chimento speaking on behalf of Butler Electric.

Butler Electric crews could be seen working on Glenwild Avenue, in Bloomingdale, Sunday night and by Macopin Road Monday morning.

By the afternoon, a few Tri-Boro Patch readers told us power had been restored on our Facebook page. Fayson Lakes Road, near Kinnelon Road, saw power restored to some parts, as well as some parts of Glenwild Avenue.

Several Smoke Rise residents said they were still without power by 2 p.m. Monday.

said all the main roads in the borough that were closed Sunday are now open, including Glenwild Avenue and Union Avenue. Police also said the warming shelter established at the Sunday has since been closed.

Chimento said six storm-related motor vehicle accidents were reported Saturday across the borough. However, no injuries as a result of the accidents were reported and no deaths.

The warming shelter established Sunday in Butler is open on Monday but has been moved to the Carey Avenue firehouse.

"The shelter will be open and people are offered food, a warm meal, and a place to accomodate themselves," Chimento said. Chimento added that as of 9:30 a.m., no one has taken advantage of the shelter.

Schwartz said several Kinnelon residents took advantage set up at Kinnelon High School Sunday, but that they would only open a shelter Monday night if a need arises.
