Kinnelon Man Charged With Marijuana Possession, Reckless Driving

The following arrest information was supplied by the Butler Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A 19-year-old man was arrested on marijuana charges Sunday after police said he was stopped while driving for allegedly speeding on Route 23 South.

Michael J. Campisano was charged with possession of 50 grams or less of marijuana, reckless driving, failure to maintain a lane, failure to exhibit a valid insurance card, operating a motor vehicle with a view obstruction and operating with a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.

According to , Campisano was driving a silver Mazda at 10:49 p.m. at an allegedly high rate of speed on Route 23 South when Sgt. Keith Soules said he observed him failing to come to a complete stop at the intersection of Route 23 and Boonton Avenue before making a right hand turn.

Upon stopping the vehicle and speaking with Campisano, police said Soules smelled the odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. A small quantity of marijuana was also allegedly discovered in the vehicle. Campisano was arrested and transported to the police station. He was later released in his own recognizance with a date to appear in court.
