Kinnelon Police Investigate Multiple Car Burglaries

Navigation systems among items taken from vehicles.

are investigating several car burglaries on two borough streets.

One burglary was reported on Wednesday at about 7:15 p.m., when police said Sgt. David Crouthamel responded to a residence on White Birch Terrace where an individual reported a motor vehicle burglary.

Police said upon arrival, Crouthamel spoke with the individual who filed the report and claimed that on March 6, he noticed his Bostitch cordless trim nailer was missing from his 1998 Chevrolet pickup truck.

According to police, the man said the truck was parked in his driveway at the time of the alleged incident. The man also said that he did not immediately report the incident because he thought a neighbor may have borrowed it, and that the gun has a value of $400, police said.

Police are also investigating reports of two vehicle burglaries on Graceview Drive. According to police, on Wednesday at about 6:35 p.m., Ptl. Christopher Mucci responded to a residence on Graceview Drive where a 2008 Dodge was reported broken into.

The incident occurred while the vehicle was parked in the driveway with its window open sometime between 3:30 and 6 p.m. A NUVI navigation system was reported missing from the vehicle.

A second vehicle parked outside the residence was also reported broken into during the same timeframe.  A 1998 Ford was left unlocked and a Garmin navigation system, iPod Touch and about $30 cash was reported missing from the vehicle. Police said the total value of the items was about $838.
