Man Allegedly Fell Asleep at Wheel, Crashed Car in Bloomingdale

Police said driver struck retaining wall on Macopin Road.

A 69-year-old Hewitt man was injured in a crash on Macopin Road on Aug. 27 where police said he allegedly fell asleep while driving.

According to , the driver was headed south on upper Macopin Road around 10:45 p.m. when his car went off the roadway and struck a retaining wall. The vehicle then spun off the wall, striking a guardrail on the southbound side. The airbag deployed as a result of the crash.

Police said when they responded, the man had several lacerations on his face and head and appeared to be disoriented. responded to the scene and transported the man to Morristown Medical Center.

The man's vehicle was towed away from the scene but no summonses were issued.
