Kinnelon police broke up a party Saturday on Strong Drive, where police said they found a 19-year-old allegedly in possession of five small bags of marijuana and several teenagers drinking.

Police said they pulled up to a home where they believed a 2009 Dodge parked outside was in an accident. Upon pulling up to the home, police said they noticed one of the individuals outside place an item in the back of the truck and another individual walk away from the home, down the driveway.

The person who put an item in the truck was Jeremy Mudd, 19, police said, who told police that he had placed his fishing tackle box in the truck. Mudd also confirmed that he had not been in an accident.

When police asked to see the box, Mudd opened his trunk where police said they allegedly saw the bags of marijuana.

The individual who walked down the driveway was identified as a 17-year-old Kinnelon teen who police said they determined to be under the influence of alcohol.

Police called for more assistance and as more police arrived at the scene, police said, people began to flee the home into the woods. After police established that a 17-year-old and 15-year-old were residents of the home, police said they found evidence of alcohol across the home and that the residents had also been drinking.

The residents told police that their parents were in Florida, police said. The three juveniles were taken into police custody, as well as three more juvenile males who police said admitted to being at the party and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.

Mudd was charged with possession of marijuana and released with a ticket to appear in court at a later date. The party hosts were charged with serving alcohol to minors and were released to a family member. Two 17-year-old males were charged with being under the influence of alcohol and released to their parents.
