Man Arrested on Contempt of Court Warrant

The following arrest information was supplied by the Butler Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A 45-year-old Newark man who was the passenger in a vehicle that was stopped on Route 23 in Butler Sunday was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of the Essex County Superior Court for contempt of court.

John Breland was arrested on the warrant, without bail opportunity, and Victor Eng, the driver of the vehicle, was issued motor vehicle summonses for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, operating an unregistered motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle without valid credentials.

Police said Eng was driving a gray 2004 Acura south on Route 23 at 10:08 a.m. when a routine search allegedly revealed that Eng was driving with a revoked license. Upon further investigation, police said they discovered the warrant for Breland.
