Man Charged With Drug Possesion in Butler

Police said man and driver had drug-related injuries on arms.

A Stockholm man was arrested in Butler Monday after police said he was found to be in possession of suspected heroin, marijuana, unlawfully prescribed medication and drug paraphernalia.

Michael Duffy, 25, was charged with possession of controlled dangerous substances, possession of marijuana (50 grams or less), unlawful possession of hypodermic syringes and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was sent to the Morris County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000 bail with no 10 percent option.

Butler police said Duffy was the passenger in a vehicle being driven by Amy Deluise, 34, of Hamburg. Deluise was driving a blue Nissan X-Terra on Route 23 North at about 3:20 p.m. when police said they noticed the vehicle had a broken windshield. Police stopped the vehicle and spoke with Deluise and Duffy, who police said both had fresh injuries their arms. Police said they discovered Duffy to allegedly be in possession of three envelopes of suspected heroin, four small bags of marijuana, two hypodermic needles and unlawfully prescribed medication.

Duffy was arrested and transported to the station before being transferred to the Morris County Correctional Facility. Deluise was issued several motor vehicle violations, including for driving with a broken windshield and failure to exhibit a valid driver’s license.

When are these people from "up counry" going to learn that they can't get away with these kind of illegal substances in our part of Route 23? The campaign is going forward to have no more reason to call it the "heroin highway" or "coccaine corridor" or anything else related to drug abuse. Bravo to our good law enforcement from Butler and all of our surrounding PD's.
