Part of Ear Bitten Off After 'Play Fight' Escalates, Cops Say

Police said friends started out playing until one of them got injured at Bloomingdale bar.

A man had part of his ear bitten off in a fight Wednesday that started out as just "play fighting," police said.

No charges were filed against either of the two men involved, although one of the men, Matthew DeAugistinis, 25, of Bloomingdale, had to be transported to the hospital because of the ear injury. Police said the men are friends.

said DeAugustinis and Michael Mccroy, 22, of Wayne, were seen rolling on the ground when they responded to a Hamburg Turnpike bar around 3:30 a.m. Ptl. Kevin Piersel separated both males and said they were allegedly intoxicated when they began play fighting. The fight allegedly escalated into a wrestling match and both men sustained injuries, police said.
