Medford Man Arrested on Drug Possession Charges

Police said used hypodermic needle found in man's pocket.

arrested a Medford man on Nov. 30 on DWI charges after police allegedly observed his head bobbing up and down as if he was falling asleep while driving on Fayson Lakes Road.

Kevin Ott, 29, was charged with being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, driving while intoxicated, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, reckless driving and failure to maintain a lane.

According to police, a caller reported at 1:45 p.m. the van Ott was driving was allegedly all over the roadway. Police said Ptl. Nicolas Cifelli observed the van crossing the double yellow line and Ott’s head bobbing up and down. Ptl. Cifelli stopped the vehicle and said that while speaking to Ott, Ott allegedly showed signs of being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance.

Police said Ott failed several field sobriety tests and that while searching Ott, they found a used hypodermic needle and screen in his pocket.

Ott was arrested and transported to the Kinnelon police station. He was later released with a ticket to appear in court at a later date.
