Motorcyclist Injured in Union Avenue Accident

Police said man reported vehicle exiting driveway while he was in the roadway.

A motorcyclist complained of pain in his ribcage after an accident on Union Avenue on Dec. 3 in which police said he reported a vehicle exiting a driveway into the roadway when he was driving.

responded to the accident at 1:15 p.m. and found motorists who had stopped to help the motorcyclst off the southbound lane of Union Avenue. Police said the motorcyclist was lying on the ground complaining of pain in his ribcage and said that he drove off the roadway to avoid an accident with the vehicle.

Tri-Boro First Aid Squad responded to the scene and transported the motorcyclist to Morristown Memorial Hospital.

Police responded to a call for a lost hiker in the Norvin Green State Forest on Dec. 4. At 3:48 p.m., a 46-year-old hiker told Sgt. Michael Boffa that he and his son and dog had entered the white trail and were lost.

The Bloomingdale Search and Rescue Team, made up of local volunteers, were dispatched and located the hiker and his son and dog. All three were safely escorted out of the forest.

A 19-year-old Haskell man was involved in a single-car accident on Glenwild Avenue on Dec. 6. Police responded at 5:34 p.m. and found the driver off the roadway on the southbound side.

Police said the driver said he lost control of his vehicle while navigating a turn and slid off the roadway. Police said the driver was not injured, nor was a passenger in the vehicle, but that the car had sustained damage to a tire and rim. The vehicle was towed.

Carl Degroat, 38, of Gloucester, VA, was arrested on a warrant for aggravated assault out of Bloomingdale on Dec. 7. According to police, the incident allegedly occurred in on Nov. 20. Degroat was arrested at 8 p.m. and transported to the police station.

Police said he was unable to post $10,000 bail and was sent to the Passaic County jail.
